FAQs
When is the best time to hunt?
Our season goes from mid September through end of October. No single week is the best as we have taken great animals every week of the season but there are some differences. If you want to hunt the bugle for elk, September is the best time. If you prefer cooler temps and more daylight game movement October is best. If you would like to target Mule Deer over Elk, we recommend later in October as the more snow we get the more deer movement we see typically. We have available tags and encourage all hunters to purchase both elk and deer tags on every hunt.
What is the average bull elk size?
The average bull taken on our hunts is between 230-270″ with a handful of bulls over 300″ each year. This is a true wilderness hunt not a trophy elk hunt, the very biggest bulls we see are 320-330″
What is the average mule deer size?
We have a company rule of all our hunters that no bucks are taken under 150″ or what we classify as a mature 4pt/4yr old. With limited deer density we find passing on smaller bucks allows for some true trophy class bucks to come of age.
How many hunters do you take each season?
Each season we limit each camp to a total of 3 hunters per week / 18 hunters total. We believe its our responsibility as an outfitter to not over-hunt and allow every guest an equal opportunity.
How far are the average shot distances?
We have an immense amount of respect for the game we chase and therefore do not encourage anyone to take shots out of their comfort zone. The average shots are 300yds but hunters capable of shooting 500-700yds will naturally have more opportunities as this is very open terrain and the topography can limit us. We do not condone people taking long range shots unless all of the conditions and hunter abilities support an ethical shot.
