EXCELLENT Based on 37 reviews Posted on Google DeAnn HowellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I hunted with Caleb June 2026. This was my first bear hunt and everything about it has made me want to come back and hunt with Caleb again. The location was beautiful. The tent was comfortable and relaxing. The creek was a refreshing cold plunge every day before embarking on the day of hunting. And the food from Chef Andrew was AMAZING!!! We saw an abundance of bears every day. Caleb worked his tail off making sure it was a great week of hunting. I highly recommend!Posted on Google Steve HowellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely beautiful place. The accommodations were over the top with large wall tens and beds. Nothing better than waking up every morning ing by the river. Saw tons of bears and very large bears. Chef Andrew is world class along with his menu. The food alone is worth the trip. Caleb and his team pay attention to every detail and make sure everyone is comfortable and most importantly successful.Posted on Google Tony WochnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great outfitter, camp is awsome… Idaho mountain huntingPosted on Google Zach HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have spent 3 springs with Caleb hunting black bears, and there is a reason we keep coming back. Caleb puts a big focus on the small things that truly do make a big difference for his clients. Things like quality of the food, comfort of the camp, and being truly one of the best guys in the industry have brought us back year after year. Any hunt with Caleb truly is the trip of a lifetime, and I couldn't recommend his outfit enough. Caleb is a master of his craft, and has really perfected how to run a backcountry hunting experience. He has created memories for me and my dad that will last us a lifetime, and I couldn't recommend them enough! Best in the business truly.Posted on Google Chris HammondTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. There a reason we keep re-booking with Caleb year after year for a bear hunt. The entire experience is high quality, predictable, and worth every penny. The lodging, camping and food all get five stars. The actual hunt does as well. We have harvested a bear every time……and always see many others that we pass up. My son and I are going back again as soon as we can. It’s that good.Posted on Google John LaBancTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. May 2021: Hunting with Caleb is a five star event. He set up a side wall tent camp with a cook tent and separate sleeping tent. He went the extra mile and had ground lighting to aid in getting from tent to tent and the latrine. He had an outdoor shower and an enclosed latrine. The meals alone are worth the cost of the hunt. The bait he set up for the spring bear hunt provided a target rich environment. If you are looking for color phase bears, this is the hunt for you. May 2026: I had the privilege of hunting in the Frank Church Wilderness area of Idaho for spring black bear. Idaho is noted for the large concentration of color phase black bears. On a previous 2021 spring black bear hunt with Caleb, the owner-outfitter, I harvested a traditional black bear and a cinnamon phase black bear. My goal and wish was to harvest a chocolate phase bear. I related this request to Caleb who reviewed his trail camera footage to determine the most likely baited site to see and harvest a mature chocolate phase black bear. There were a total of three hunters in camp hunting over bait and one spot-and-stock hunter. Caleb reviewed with us images of bears from his trail camera at the sites we would be sitting. He quizzed us as to the size of the bears and whether the image of the bears we saw were a sow or boar and large mature bears or small young bears. This was a valuable exercise and gave us confidence in judging the bears we would be seeing at our bait site. There was one hunter per bait site. My intent was to spend the first evening at the bait site observing the bears and taking photos with my spotting scope and phone to share with Caleb to validate my assessment of the quality of the bears. One image was of a boar and sow sitting together at the bait site. This made it much easier to judge the bears. Caleb verified the larger of the two bears was a chocolate phase black bear boar and a definite shooter. The next day I was at the bait site early and settling in for what I assumed would be a long day waiting until near last light for the bears to come in to feed. I was surprised to see the first bears at 16:30 hours and more surprised to see the boar and sow. I watched the bears feed through a Nightforce NX8 2.5 - 20 x 50 mounted on a Blaser R8 300 WSM load with 178 gr ELD-X and secure in a BogPod Deathgrip tripod. The bears feed for about 20 minutes. Finally, the boar sat up at the bait providing me with a 164 yard frontal shot. The entire hunting experience was exceptional. We slept in side wall tents on wood platforms with twin beds and mattresses. Brunch, snacks, to-go boxes and dinner were prepared daily by Andrew, a professional chef. It took considerable restraint to avoid over eating and gaining weight during the hunt. It is a testament to the quality of service provided by Caleb that all hunters were repeat clients. I will be back in the fall for an elk hunt with Caleb.Posted on Google George LawTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. FAQs
Do I need to draw tags in order to book a trip?
No sir! All of the hunts we offer grant you access to our Outfitter Allocated tags. Simply book a trip with us, and not only will you be guaranteed tags, we will even handle purchasing them for you so you have nothing to worry about.
Where exactly are you located?
We are located in Central Idaho’s remote Frank Church Wilderness area. As remote as someone can truly get in the lower 48, we are hours from the nearest paved road in the heart of the largest wilderness complex in America. We charter flights for all our guests from the nearest town of McCall, Idaho typically, but we can also arrange for flights from Boise by request.
How difficult is a wilderness hunt?
There are many places to hunt that are far easier than the Frank. This is some of the steepest country imaginable and not for the faint of heart. While some of our hunts like Late Season Mule Deer are far more demanding than our Baited Bear Hunts, be prepared to push yourself to new limits. Our hunts are not for everyone, but if serious adventure is something you desire there are few places as wild left in the world.
How many hunters are in camp at a time?
Most of our hunts are intentionally limited to 3 hunters in camp at a time for the best experience. The only exception would be for groups of 4 that book together or spot & stalk bear and late season mule deer which are limited to 2 hunters.
